Over time, waxed cotton, canvas and oilskin garments naturally lose their wax coating through wear, exposure to weather and regular use. The fabric can become dry, less flexible and lose its ability to repel water effectively.
Artisan’s Son offers a professional Stage 4 Garment Re-Waxing Service, using our own Premium Wax-Based Fabric Wax applied by hand.
The process is designed to restore weather protection, nourish the fabric and extend the useful life of a well-made garment.
What Does Stage 4 Include?
Stage 4 — Garment Re-Waxing
2–3 coats of Artisan’s Son Premium Wax-Based Fabric Wax are applied by hand across the outer fabric of the garment.
The wax is carefully worked into the fabric and heat-treated to encourage even penetration throughout the outer shell.
Particular attention is given to areas of heavy wear and sections where the original wax coating has become dry or depleted.
The garment is then checked and finished to ensure an even, functional and presentable wax coating.
What Re-Waxing Does
Professional re-waxing helps restore the protective properties of the outer fabric while maintaining the character and appearance of a well-used garment.

Stage 4 is a re-waxing service and does not include cleaning of the garment.

The 5-Stage Garment Restoration Process
Stage 4 forms part of our complete Garment Restoration Process, designed to clean, restore, protect and finish your garment.
Stage 1 — Outer Garment Cleaning & De-Waxing
The outer shell is carefully hand-cleaned to remove old waxes, oils and accumulated surface contaminants.
Stage 2 — Inner Garment Cleaning
The inner lining is spot-treated for stains, then cleaned and deodorised without damaging the waxed outer shell.
Stage 3 — Whole Garment Mould, Bacteria & Odour Treatment
The entire garment is treated to address mould, bacteria and persistent odours throughout both the outer shell and inner lining.
Stage 3 is only available as part of the Stage 5 Complete Garment Restoration treatment.
Stage 4 — Garment Re-Waxing
2–3 coats of Artisan’s Son Premium Wax-Based Fabric Wax are applied by hand to restore water resistance and weather protection.
Stage 5 — Finishing & Quality Assurance
The garment receives a detailed final inspection and hand finishing. Excess wax is removed from buttons, collars, zippers and other details before final quality assurance sign-off.

1. Place Your Order
Place your order via the 'Add to Cart' button above or through 'Shop'. Proceed with the payment method of your choice.
Once your order has been received, a confirmation email will be sent to you confirming the appropriate shipping address for sending your garment to us.
2. Ship Your Garment
Send your garment to us via a method of your choice:
- A prepaid Australia Post satchel (most common)
- A padded mailer
- A suitable box or courier service
Please ensure your name is clearly included inside the parcel or printed on the outside of the parcel so we can identify your garment when it arrives.
You are responsible for sending your garment to us and for the associated postage costs.
3. Re-Waxing
Once your garment arrives into our workshop, a confirmation email will be sent. Our team will carry out an initial assessment before beginning the re-waxing process.
The garment will then receive its Stage 4 professional re-waxing treatment.
Please allow approximately 1–2 weeks from receipt of the garment to completion of the service.
4. Return Shipping
Once the service is complete, your garment will be shipped back to you.
You'll receive a confirmation email containing your tracking details once your garment has been dispatched.
Return shipping is included in the service price.
Garment Repairs & Alterations
Garment alterations, fixing and mending can be performed in conjunction with our fabric cleaning and waxing services.
This may include repairs to:
- Tears
- Seams
- Cuffs
- Pockets
- Worn areas
- Other damaged sections
Additional charges apply for repair and alteration work.
Please request any repairs when placing your order so we can assess the additional work required.

Please do not send your garment to an address found elsewhere on the website before placing your order, as garments must be correctly identified and processed against your order.
